An application that involves databases, applications and machine procedures.
Examples of Information Systems
1.EFTPOS Card - Allowing the user to withdraw money and use to purchase through a shop's card terminal. Can reject the card if it doesn't meet the requirments (not enough money in the card). A system that is a processing card transferal. Collecting information in what is in the card. Such as the amount contained, times and dates on when it was accessed and other details.
2. Nielsen Ratings (audience measurement systems) - A system that counts how many viewers watch a program. Data is collected on how many people watch a the program and this will determine what programs are most viewed by the public.
3. Box Office - When tickets are sold for movies, information that is input into the computer collects data on the amount of tickets purchased to watched the movie. This determines the ratings of movies and what movies did best at the box office.Labels: Information Systems
