Table Generator
Wednesday, July 29, 2009
9:40 AM
I had to create tables for the 'Contact Us' page that mariel worked on.
And since there was so many things we had to put into tables i decided to find a generator that involves use copying and pasting the info.
i used
TABLE GENERATOR

It was really quick and easier than typing up all the codes which i did last lesson.
The only thing i had to change was the border because i wanted to border to be invivsible. So i changed into a

Navigation
Monday, July 6, 2009
8:43 PM
So today i was working on the layout and such
Mr Cavill commented on my layout that its a bit.. Crowded
I tired to make the website aimed at our age. But i see where he's coming from
Because the Navigation is quite cluttered and all over the place.

So im going to create another set of button which more simple and straight to the point

Replacements

Home - Home
Leader Details - Details
Apply to be a leader - Application
Nominee Profiles - Nominees
FAQ - FAQ
Contact Us - Contact Us
Vote - VOTE

and the font size will be 35 (for gimp)
:) I think to will give a nice sophisticated looking website :)

He also suggested to make some spaces between some of the buttons
so i moved down the vote because it was much bigger.
-------

I worked on the layout and trying to figure out how to make my iframes transparent because the images i used for the layout was behind the iframes and it showed the white background of the iframes. To solve this there was a code a found on the internet that allows the iframes to be transparent. This was jsut to copy and paste and code into the "head" for each iframe page

Next lesson i want to finish the layout and buttons.

HELLO TEAM!
i think you coming close to finishing the Details page
so i just wanted to introduce you to 'Anchor Links'
and i we talked about it before
Just a link to go to a certain part of the page. Like Hyperlinks in Microsoft Word.

The code for this is really simple
Use this code
as the link -

<a href="#CODEWORD">Desired Link Name</a>

** CODEWORD is the code that will direct you to where the follow code is going to be. You can change this to suit your need. For example th code will be 'TOP' to indicate it will go to the top of the page. What ever this code is remember to put the same codeword for the following link.

Then use this code

<a name="CODEWORD"></a>

this code is put where you want the link to go to. For example you want to link to go to the end you put it at the end of the page.

* If you want i recommend you put a anchor on each sub heading to redirect them back to the top of the page if the iframe is long :).

HOLIDAYS ARE COMING UP
so feel free to take some of the webpage/notepads so you can work on them :)
Im planning to work on the Index.html, FAQ.html and Home.Html
GOODWORK EVERYONE :)

IFRAMES

What is an IFRAME?
"Iframe is the webpage element that creates an inline frame that contains another document. Iframe functions as a document within a document, or like a floating FRAME."

------
Today i was fixing our form
just adding a few other things
and i problem we encountered was that Alex pointed out that on our form we have an uploader
so students can upload there supporting documents but we realised we can only put a single file uploader and not a multiple one
so we just left a msg saying to put all files into one word document
but another better alternative is to just give them to the year co-ordinator :)

Today Alex and Mariel worked on the the codes of the guidelines and such

GOODWORK EVERYONE we are working extremely well :)
----
We proposing a idea that involes changing the way students apply for a leader. This involes using the internet than using paper and submitting it. We believe this is much better as everyone is using the internet nowadays and understand the basics.

We are producing a website that will have all the information students need to become a leader and what it required by them. Instead of paper being given to their year co-ordinator the online application is easier and will be sent directly to the principal. Then they will recieve a email back that the prinipal has recieved their email.

Form Page
Wednesday, July 1, 2009
6:14 PM
Today i worked on the forms page
this page is the online application form

I found some simple codes that sent the form to the user
The only problem i had with this code was that it was only good if the person who owns the computer has Microsoft outlook that is installed. Most computers don't install this, especially the ones on the school computers
so i looked for another alternative

the only other way of create an online form is to use a online form generator
the best one i could find was JotForm
Only I'm signed up as a free user and i am restricted to other benefits.
But if this was to be used for a company they would have to pay the $9 a month for full access for JotForm. But even the free version is pretty good :)
This shows the difference between free version and premium version :)

anyways i finished create the form
and i just need to show the group :)

This is how the form looks like to the person who recieved these applications. This was sent to my gmail. It like how it shows what time it was sent :)
