OS standing for Operating System.
i watched a video about Google Chrome OS and basically its going to replace everything on the computer. So no more folders or w/e. its all going to be about the INTERNET. Like when you turn on your computer there will be no loading up files or whatever. It will directly connect to the internet. So all files will bee on the internet, all games will be played online and many other things. The great things about the OS is that it will be quicker to turn on your computer without loading files and accepting updates because it will directly connect to the internet. They decided on this idea because people nowadays don't even pay attention to the folders and such on the computer anymore, they just go on the net and do everything there, from reading the news to listening to music. Also it will be easier for smart phones to obtain files as all files on the computer will be on the internet.
Truthfully i think it would take me a long time to adapt to this kind of change because, im so used to saving files and organising it. But i think the internet and secutity will be improve. Its a big step and a huge change to how i will use the computer is this OS was a major change in the usage of computers.

DBMS - Database Management System
Flat file - one table databases.
Relational Databases - matches data by using common characteristics found within the data set. The resulting groups of data are organized and are much easier for people to understand.
Primary Key - Unique ID
Database normalization - save storage space and ensure the consistency of your data. Performance can be improved.
Meta Data - Metadata is structured data which describes the characteristics of a resource. It shares many similar characteristics to the cataloguing that takes place in libraries, museums and archives. The term "meta" derives from the Greek word denoting a nature of a higher order or more fundamental kind. A metadata record consists of a number of pre-defined elements representing specific attributes of a resource, and each element can have one or more values.
Data dictionary - collection of descriptions of the data objects or items in a data model for the benefit of programmers and others who need to refer to them
Hypermedia -describes a website, used as a logical extension of the term hypertext in which graphics, audio, video, plain text and hyperlinks intertwine to create a generally non-linear medium of information.Labels: notes

Google Wave.
10:23 AM
1.Hosted conversation is when it allows different users to communicate and contribute online together in real time.
2.Advantages - Only one copy is bein shared by multiple people rather than having many copies that may get altered by different people. Also shows what is being edited and what was edited and added.
3.The drawbacks of email and IM is that communicating with a group of people is hard. An example was the sender sent a message to a group of people and there were some people replied to all people that recieved the email and some only replying to the sender. Then with IM people have a group conversation and usually theres only 2 people who are actually talking to each other and some ignore or leave the conversation. With email you recieve alot of emails from different people, therefore alot of documents.
4.Features - Being able to communicate using only one copy document, that will reduce different copies and many emails. All people work on the one copy. Drag and drop iteams from you computer desktop straight onto the Google wave making it easier to share files. Easier than attaching documents in a email.
5.Negative - It is difficult to find new messages, compared to email inboxes, hard to see when there are messages changed or new post on the wave.
6.Live Chat - this allows users in a wave to communicate and work on a document real time. All at the same time online.
Archived Posts - the time and date when post are made are recorded. So users know when someone has posted something on the wave.
7.API - application programming interface (API) is an interface that a software program implements in order to allow other software to interact with it
Ajax - application programming interface (API) is an interface that a software program implements in order to allow other software to interact with it
8. I would use it for group assignments. Allows us all to work together online and sharing the work online.
I think it will be very useful at school, only everyone would need to be able to use it.
